SAARC COVID-19 Mortality and Recovery Rates: Daily Analysis Report on 04 May 2020

The South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC) is the regional intergovernmental organization and geopolitical union of states in South Asia. Its member states are Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, the Maldives, Nepal, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka. The SAARC region comprises of over 21% of the world’s population which remains exposed towards COVID-19.

This report intends to find out the mortality rates and recovery rates caused by the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic at the SAARC region as on 04 May 2020.

 

Findings:

  • The SAARC Member States have reported 72,334 positive cases, a total of 1,998 deaths in the region, and 17,065 recovered cases as on 04 May 2020.
  • COVID-19 Mortality Rates of Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Maldives, Nepal, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka, are 2.92%, 1.79%, 0.00%, 3.24%, 0.18%, 0.00%, 2.30%, and 1.11% respectively on 04 May 2020.
  • The SAARC Average COVID-19 Mortality Rate is 2.75 on the date.
  • COVID-19 Recovery Rates of Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Maldives, Nepal, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka, are 13.41%, 11.93%, 71.43%, 27.46%, 3.14%, 21.33%, 27.21%, and 26.91% respectively on 04 May 2020.
  • The SAARC Average Recovery Rate is 73 on the date.

 

It is seen that on 04 May 2020, India’s COVID-19 Mortality is 3.24% which is higher than the SAARC Average 2.75% and Bhutan’s COVID-19 Recovery Rate is the highest in the SAARC region, taking it to 71.43%.

 

On 03 May 2020, India’s COVID-19 Mortality was 3.25% on 03 May 2020, higher than the SAARC Average 2.76% and Bhutan topped at the COVID-19 Recovery Rate in the SAARC region, taking it to 71.43% on the same date. The full report can be obtained here.

On 02 May 2020, India’s COVID-19 Mortality is 3.24% which was higher than the SAARC Average 2.79% and Bhutan’s COVID-19 Recovery Rate in the SAARC region was the highest, taking it to 71.43% on the same date.
