A London-returnee, who is currently in institutional quarantine at Brahmanbaria’s Bijoynagar Upazila Health Complex, has asked to be served with Chinese food three times a day.

The 35-years-old expatriate earlier demanded air conditioning facility and an attached bathroom.

However, the expatriate is currently kept in a room without an AC, but with attached bath.

“We already told him that we will try to do as much as possible. But it’s not possible to install an AC or provide him with Chinese food,” Bijoynagar Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Meher Nigar told.

The expatriate came from London on 11 May in his residence at Nasirnagar upazila of the district. The authorities instructed him to maintain home quarantine for 14 days.

He was not complying with the quarantine policies. Moreover, he became angry with the authorities.

On Thursday (14 May 2020) afternoon, the Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO), with Army’s patrolling team and police went to his residence and asked him to maintain quarantine rules.

As the expatriate started to show different excuses, the UNO instructed the police to arrest him wearing personal protective equipment.

The returnee agreed to go in an institutional quarantine after the situation but demanded to have air conditioning facilities and an attached bath. Police later sent him to quarantine at the Bijoynagar Upazila Health Complex.
