COVID-19: Bangladesh reports 3 more deaths and 790 new positive cases on 06 May 2020

Bangladesh on 06 May 2020 reported 3 more deaths from the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) overnight and recorded the highest number of 790 fresh positive cases in a single day.

“3 more COVID-19 patients died in the last 24 hours, increasing the death toll from the pandemic to 186,” DGHS Additional Director General (administration) Prof Nasima Sultana told a virtual media briefing at the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) in the city.

 

She said the tally of coronavirus infections has climbed to 11,719 in the country after 790 new COVID-19 cases were detected, marking the biggest spike in a 24-hour count.

The health official informed that a total of 6,241 samples were tested at 33 authorized laboratories across the country during the period.

Nasima said 1,403 COVID-19 patients have so far been cured since the first COVID-19 cases were detected in Bangladesh on 08 March.

Nasima said of the 3 deaths, 2 are in their 60s and 1 in his 40s, adding, among them, 2 are in Dhaka and 1 is outside the capital city.

Yesterday, on 05 May 2020, Bangladesh registered the 786 fresh positive cases from the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) in a single day and 1 more death overnight.
