COVID-19: Bangladesh reports 14 more deaths and 1,041 new cases on 14 May 2020

Bangladesh on 14 May 2020 reported 14 more deaths from the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) and 1,041 fresh positive cases overnight.

“14 more COVID-19 patients died in the last 24 hours, increasing the death toll from the pandemic to 283,” DGHS Additional Director General (administration) Prof Nasima Sultana told a virtual media briefing at the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) in the city.

 

Nasima said the tally of coronavirus infections has climbed to 18,863 in the same period in the country after 1041 new COVID-19 cases were detected.

The health official informed that a total of 7,392 samples were tested at 41 authorized laboratories across the country during the period.

She said among the total infections, recovery rate has slightly raised in the country as 19.10 percent patients were cured till the date.

Nasima said 18.52 percent patients have recovered till 13 May and the mortality rate from the deadly virus is 1.53 percent.

She said as of 13 May, the recovery count rose to 3,361 after 214 patients were discharged from hospitals.
