Another police officer, who was tested COVID-19 positive, died at Central Police Hospital in Dhaka this morning (24 May 2020).

Razu Ahmed, an inspector of Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime unit of Dhaka Metropolitan Police, was admitted to the hospital on 04 May 2020 – a day after he tested COVID-19 positive, said Sohel Rana, assistant inspector general (media) of Police Headquarters.

The officer breathed his last around 10:40 AM at the intensive care unit, he said.

With Razu, 13 police personnel have died so far after contracting coronavirus while discharging their duties across the country.

Earlier, constables Naimul Haque, Jalal Uddin Khoka, Mokhlesur Rahman, Asheq Mahmud and Jasim Uddin; Nayek Mamunur Rashid; Assistant Sub-inspector Raghunath Roy; ASI Abdul Khaleq; Sub-inspector Sultanul Arefin; SI Mosharraf Hossain; SI Mujibur Rahman Talukder; and SI Nazir Uddin died with COVID-19 infection.
