The number of doctors infected by coronavirus reached 554 on Sunday, 03 May 2020, said Bangladesh Doctors Foundation (BDF), a forum of physicians.
“Among the total infected physicians, 398 are from Dhaka division alone. Of them, 238 are from government hospitals and 138 from private hospitals,” said Nirupam Das, the chief administrator of the foundation.
Of the total number of infected doctors, 363 work at government hospitals, 141 are affiliated with private hospitals and 53 physicians are shown in other categories in the BDF data. 20 doctors have so far recovered, BDF said.
Dr. Nirupam said doctors should be careful while disposing of the personal safety gears to be safe from the virus.
Harshly, a second doctor, Colonel (retd.) Professor Dr. Moniruzzaman, had died from COVID-19 on 03 May 2020 in the country.
Bangladesh has so far confirmed 9,455 coronavirus cases and 177 deaths till Sunday.
