COVID-19: Bangladesh reports 37 deaths and 86406 total recoveries on 10 July 2020

Bangladesh today confirmed 37 more deaths from the novel coronavirus and 2,949 new cases of infection testing 13,488 samples in the last 24 hours.

With this, the death toll from the deadly virus rose to 2,275 and the number of total infections stood at 1,78,443. Some 1,862 patients cured during this time.

Additional Director General of Health Directorate Nasima Sultana made the disclosure during a virtual briefing today.

 

“Of the deceased, 29 were men and eight women. Of them 12 were from Dhaka, 17 were from Chattogram, two each from Rajshahi, Sylhet and Rangpur, one each from Barishal and Mymensingh,” she added.

23 of them have died in different hospitals and 14 at their respective homes.

According to the analysis of Covid-19 victims’ age groups as of today, the highest number of patients – 43.47 percent – died till date were aged 60 and above. The age groups of 51-60 and 41-50 come next with respectively 29.80 percent and 14.68 percent. The rest of the age groups stand under eight percent, such as- 31-40 with 7.30 percent, 21-30 with 3.25 percent, 11-20 with 1.14 percent, and under ten with 0.62 percent (13).

 

The gender-wise analysis of victims stated that some 1,799 people who have died from Covid-19 are male and 476 are female, which are 79.08% and 20.92% respectively.

District-wise, out of 2,275 fatalities till date, 50.11 percent are hailed from Dhaka division, 26.46 percent from Chattogram, 5.01 percent from Rajshahi, 4.92 percent from Khulna, 4.35 percent from Sylhet, 3.60 percent from Barishal, 3.12 percent from Rangpur and 2.42 percent from Mymensingh.

“Some 14,377 samples were collected in the last 24 hours and 13,488 were tested in 77 labs across the country. So far 918,272 samples have been tested,” she added.

Besides, 1,862 patients have recovered during the time, increasing the tally to 86,406.

Around 48.42 percent of novel coronavirus patients – both symptomatic and asymptomatic – have recovered in Bangladesh so far, while 1.27 percent have died.

The latest day’s infection rate was 21.86 percent of the total tests, though the overall rate in the country till date was 19.43 percent.

Currently, 63,537 people are quarantined across the country – including 2,600 newly-quarantined individuals. A total of 325,644 people have completed their quarantine course.

The country is capable of accommodating 31,991 people at 629 institutional quarantine facilities across the country.

Nasima Sultana said, “The authorities placed 893 new individuals suspected of having Covid-19 into isolation, bringing the total to 17,192 after 17,723 left.”

As many as 15,676,180 hotline health services were given by 16,467 trained and 4,217 volunteer doctors via three designated numbers, including 192,559 in the last 24-hour till 8 AM today.

 

The virus has killed 557,569 people globally and infected 12,397,959 so far.
